Fanø Beach

Distance: 7.39 Km

Bathing is of course something that seems appealing at the beach. The best place for bathing is the stretch between Fanø Bad and Rindby Strand.

The beach is very wide on this stretch, and every year it gets even wider. Therefore, a new line of dunes is now being formed in the middle of the beach. This is how Fanø has developed over the past several hundred years. West of the new dune range is a fantastic bathing beach.

There are plenty of other beach activities. Here we fly with kites, play football, volleyball, bar tennis and much more.

South of Rindby lies the activity area, which is commonly called the buggy beach. Here you can surf, and especially the kite surfers are happy with the sea at Fanø. Here you can also ride with beach sailors, ie block art, kite buggy and landboard.

Further south, the beach becomes narrower and narrower, but in turn very wide at low tide. There is especially on this part of the beach where you can find amber.

Bathing advice
It is great to swim in the North Sea, and the beach at Fanø is completely stone-free and generally very child-friendly. But the sea is also a violent force of nature that requires us to treat it with common sense and respect. At the tourist office you can get the small brochure "The sea can get behind everyone", which gives good advice on bathing.

8 good tips
Learn to swim and jump right.
Never pray alone.
Ask only where allowed.
Only go out to the navel.
Only jump on your head where the water is deep enough.
Swim along the shore.
Never bathe with alcohol and narcotics in the blood.
Go up when you start to freeze.

At Rindby Beach there is a lifeguard station in the summer. Of course, they cannot control the entire 15km beach, but they are aware of what is going on at the beach and can move quickly if anything should happen.
