By the stairs on Fanø

In Nordby there are a number of narrow streets called slippers. The slips are the original paths between the harbor and the city.

The oldest part of Nordby was the fishing village of Odden, which consisted of a number of houses along the water. Later, the city was expanded to the west and a labyrinthine street network emerged with slips and paths that connected the houses behind the harbour.

At the Stairs was also originally a slipway, but a staircase was later built at the end of the slipway. There are a number of beautiful Fanø houses along the path, which beautifully frames the view of Nordby harbor.
