Mindelunden in Arnbjergparken

The memorial grove in Arnbjergparken was established around 1955 in honor of the seven Varden resistance fighters who died during the Second World War: Lieutenant Jørgen Østergaard, police chief Jørgen Bech Simony, foundry worker Niels Jessen, student Mogens Friis, doctor Knud Nordentoft, steel mill worker Peter Pedersen and police officer Paul Emil Gerner-Mikkelsen.

Every year on May 4, the Defense Brothers mark that Denmark became a free country after the Second World War on May 4, 1945. In Mindelund is a freedom monument, created by Anker Hoffmann, and a memorial stone for each of the seven Varden resistance fighters who lost their lives .
