Kitesurf spot on Rindby Strand - Fanø

Rindby Strand is located on the west side of Fanø, which means there is surf in the North Sea. The area lies in the "shelter" of Horns Rev and the water is therefore calmer and flatter than usual on the west coast of Jutland.

The spot is located on the beach, where there is good opportunity for setting up and launching. You are allowed to drive on the beach, so it makes it nice and easy not to have to walk with your equipment.

The beach is a "hard" sandy beach without stones. There are few knife clams, but they are visible ahead.

You are sailing in the open sea and must therefore be aware of currents and tides. It is not recommended to go out into offshore winds.

The spot is located in the Wadden Sea, so the difference between high and low tide has a great influence on the waves.

Around low tide, you must be aware that there may be a number of sandbanks and reefs which are barely visible. You can therefore advantageously go out while the sandbars are visible, in order to find out where the sandbars are located, as the visibility in the water is not good enough to be able to see the depth.

The closer you get to high tide, the more chop and the bigger the waves will be.

The best time is about 2 hours before and after low tide to avoid bigger waves which can be messy and unstructured to sail in.

When you park on the beach, be careful not to park too close to the water, as there is a big difference between high and low tide due to the tide. Park therefore a good distance from the water's edge, to avoid the car being "caught" by the water.

You can sail in the wind directions from south to northwest.
