Annedalsbjerg on Fanø

Distance: 8.19 Km

The dunes from Klingebjerg to Annedalsbjerg are probably some of the oldest on Fanø. The first settlement is supposed to have been in an area called Hovens dal.

The first church was located here, but the name Hovens dal indicates that the place also had a religious significance before Christianity. Today, there are no visible remains of the original wooden church or the granite church that was built later. The plinth for the baptismal fund in Sønderho church possibly originates from the original church.

There are also presumptions that the original fishing village called Østerho or Albo was located in this area, presumably close to the Elbow Bird's Nest. Archaeological excavations have not yet been carried out to confirm this history.
