The more than 600-year-old market town Varde is a trading town, where a rare historical atmosphere intertwines with an enterprising and contemporary trading town, with specialty shops, cozy eateries, a large square, unique art garden and inviting pedestrian streets.

Varde å - part of the Wadden Sea National Park - runs through the city and thereby draws nature directly into the city centre, where especially Arnbjergparken, with its amphitheatre, eatery, playgrounds, Varde Miniby and disabled-friendly picnic tableaus along the brook call for a break.
There are 48 works of art in the city center, and two digital, guided tours, the so-called experience loops - Naturloopet and Kulturloopet - show around the city center with stories about the city's nature, stories, art and personalities.

The trading town of Varde is worth a visit for the whole family. In the summer, children's flea markets, concerts, summer games and the particularly active Varde days draw people to the city, and from the end of November, Varde transforms into the city of the elves. More than 300 varden gnomes have their permanent seats in the city center, and the fact that Varde is in fact the city of the gnomes is emphasized by Scandinavia's largest gnome hat of 120 square meters, which covers the spire of the old town hall.

Sure, the old market town from 1476 has changed its appearance, but thanks to an extensive urban renewal, it has managed to preserve the historic buzz that makes the trading town of Varde something very special.
