Hannes House was acquired by Fonden Gamle Sønderho in 1965, when the unmarried Karen Sørensen, 84 years old, sells the house and moves to her sister Maren in Sønderho.

The mother, Johanne Sørensen, called Hanne, has lived in the house since 1882 with her family. The house was built in the 1770s and has been in the family's possession for all these years.

The house is preserved with its original interior and is a unique example of a 1800th century residence that is completely authentic. Karen sold the house to the Old Sønderho Foundation on the condition that the house should be preserved in the future in memory of her mother and family.

When you visit Hannes House you are therefore told the story of Hanne Sørensen and the story of her life that is linked to the house. A story of a skipper's family and its sorrows and joys.
